Sidebars_aboutproj
eKidometrics is an innovative educational program that provides local youth with a basic, yet dynamic, understanding of economics. Our system is composed of two design functions: the eK iPad app -- our technological design -- and the eK curriculum -- our ideological design. The eKidometrics pilot is at work with the middle school students of the Mission Hill After School Program in Roxbury, MA. Harvard undergraduates with economic concentrations and financial services experience serve to adapt and implement eK in local classrooms. eKidometrics is an intersection of our commitment to serving our community and our passion for economics.

Economic literacy is low in our local communities. Such knowledge increases the capacity to evaluate critical personal and national issues. Additionally, the basic classroom experience demands innovation. Teachers need a way to track students’ progress in real time and adapt to their individual learning styles.

We know that by leveraging state of the art technology we can make economics relevant to our students. eKidometrics enables teachers to identify and accommodate individual student needs. In addition, the app appeals to students’ everyday experiences. eK’s personalized, discovery-based design produces learning that sticks.
