Enterprise Community Partners is a national organization focusing on community development and affordable housing. They have a Green Communities initiative to turn their housing into models of sustainability by using environmentally sustainable materials, increased energy efficiency and educated tenant base on energy conservation and recycling. The Enterprise Green Communities Project is a set of solutions created to inform tenants living in green affordable housing on the benefits of living in a green community. The goal is to explain these benefits and to encourage tenants to take action towards living a more sustainable lifestyle.

Enterprise Community Partners must have tenant participation in order for a program to be truly effective. How can tenant behavior be changed to conserve energy and recycle when there is a lack of awareness due to insufficient communication between the tenants, building management and Enterprise?

Sidebars_solution

Bridge the communication gap with a sustainability event for tenants. Post signage which explains the benefits the newly installed green features and provides tips for the tenant to use in their own home. Select a "green leader" from each pool of tenants and empower him/her with a toolkit to encourage tenant participation.
