The University of Michigan-Flint is partnering with the Genesee Land Bank to establish an Urban Alternatives House (UAH) in a tax foreclosed property close to campus. The renovated house will become a classroom space for university students, the community and visiting school children. It will maximize energy efficiency and introduce sustainable, innovative ways to manage energy and water use. In the lot adjacent to the house a vegetable garden will be developed to encourage more active and healthy living and provide a demonstration site for urban agriculture.

Sidebars_challenge

Corporate Design students were asked to design a campaign to raise awareness and encourage involvement in the UAH project. The challenge was to create memorable branding that represents all aspects of this multi-dimensional learning center and easily adapt to new directions as the project progresses.

The "finding new ways" campaign created by Adam Alberts speaks to the underlying theme of the UAH project: seeking innovation in all aspects of the project including education, energy conservation, and community involvement. It also provides flexibility for future initiatives.
