Sidebars_aboutproj
Poor sanitation effects nearly 2.5 billion people worldwide. It is our strong belief that in order to create lasting and sustainable change in the developing world you must first tackle systemic issues like sanitation to incentivize personal responsibility and economic growth cultivated with a system of accountability. Along with the support of Art Center College of Design and Relief International, our crew made up of a photographer, DP, and product designer, will travel to Southern Sudan to test a latrine design and film a short length documentary on the issues and causes surrounding improper sanitation in the developing world.

The goal of our project is to create a 15-30 minute long documentary that develops an awareness of the sanitation conditions in the developing world and highlights how poor sanitation negatively effects many aspects of people’s lives outside the considered spectrum of sanitation, physically, economically, and socially.

Good sanitation means a strong latrine design and adequate sanitation education. The latter being 80% of the problem. We’ve developed a latrine design we’ll further refine during our travels, along with the documentary that will finally expose the issue and promote the positive effects of sanitation education programs.
