re:active is a nonprofit, arts-education program for youths 13-19. re:active uses the production of a theme-based magazine about issues affecting youth as the vehicle for introducing students to design thinking and a collaborative creative process.
We help youth to see a path that makes sense for them by introducing them to jobs in the fields of design, writing, illustration and photography. Our first set of classes began in 2004. We just published our 5th magazine.
The magazines are more like books. The fine printing quality is an important aspect to reinforce that the youth voice matters. Not some janky newsletter that the church puts out, but real production value for important voices.
We intend to become a worldwide forum for creative youth to express themselves around a theme determined by the group in Portland.
