Design Ignites Change is pushing hot buttons around the world
Design Ignites Change, a collaboration between the Adobe Foundation’s signature program, Adobe Youth Voices, and Worldstudio, is spreading the word by releasing the first edition in a series of collectible Hot Buttons, that announce and celebrate the program and website. Five renowned designers and studios, James Victore, SpotCo., Volume, Frog Design, Scott Stowell of Open and Luba Lukova, lead the series by paying tribute to Design Ignites Change, each in a style evocative of the designer’s distinct sensibility.
For upcoming buttons in the series, Design Ignites Change invites designers of all ages, from across the country, to submit their original button designs. The design brief challenges designers to develop either a typographic treatment of Design Ignites Change or a unique image or symbol that expresses the idea that “design ignites change.” There are 3 opportunities to submit a design before the year ends and have a chance for it to be produced as part of the Hot Button series.
Each button design received will appear in the gallery on the Design Ignites Change website, along with a credit to the designer. For more information on how to submit a button design, download the PDF.
“People delight in trading and collecting button pins as keepsakes,” explains Mark Randall, who helped envision the communication strategy for the project, “which ensures the sustainability of each button—and also its message—over time.” The first edition of Hot Buttons will be distributed to schools, at industry events and to members of the business community. Most recently, Design Ignites Change Hot Buttons circulated at Benetton’s Fabrica in Italy and at the recent AIGA San Diego Y Conference.
